Review : Detestor – The Abysswalker – English

To impose themselves into the Deathcore scene, Detestor gets unleashed.

Created between Ukraine and Russia in 2019, Alex Detestor (guitar, We Are Obscurity, ex-Bugs Live in My Bed), Nikolay Semerenko (vocals, Infected Swarm), Viktor Lytvynov (drums, Levegh, ex-The Worst Is Yet to Come) and Igor Narni (bass, ex-The Ballad About) offer a third single.

Entitled The Abysswalker, the song stays in their universe between Technical Death Metal, heavy Deathcore, modern sonorities and inspiration from the video game Dark Souls to welcome a very special guest on vocals: Dan Watson (Enterprise Earth, ex-Infant Annihilator).
The band’s heavy and brutal rhythmic basis is joined by infernal howlings, from cavernous growl to high-pitched screams from the vocalist duo, but the song is also filled with both crushing and majestic breaks, completed by an apocalyptic ambience and heady leads. All that we need to be caught by the sound!

Even if they’re very little known, Detestor proves us in four minutes of violence that we have to deal with them in the future. The Abysswalker was forged between pure brutality and unhealthy technicality, and the addition of Dan Watson’s howlings only strengthens this unholy violence.
