Review 554 : Mortify – Grotesque Buzzsaw Defilement – English

Ready to rot with Mortify?

Created in 2017 between Japan and United States, the band is composed of Adam Jennings (vocals, Disrotted, Sick/Tired), Takuya Koreeda (guitar, Trikorona, ex-Coffins) and Ryohei Kikuchi (drums, Su19b, Final Exit) for Grotesque Buzzsaw Defilement, their new EP.

Accompanied by a handful of HM-2, the band vomits thirteen tracks of swedish inspired Grind/Death in less than 10 minutes! No need to explain more, violence is the band’s watchword, and they don’t hesitate to use morbid howlings to add to their greasy and weighing riffs, like on Flesh Creep, the first song, as well as gore samples on 100 Rats before the attack. Fast, sharp, purulent and very effective, the band’s sound is as brutal as groovy. Some screamed backing vocals, some bouncing parts on Mangy Mutts, a raw sound like on Brain Gurgler, even an Agathocles cover with the short No!, we have everything we needed.

Mortify knows Grindcore’s rules and fully respect them. Grotesque Buzzsaw Defilement is gore, greasy, purulent, thick and catchy, that’s all we ask to the musicians!
