Review 1434 : Fall of Seraphs – From Dust to Creation – English

Fall of Seraphs flies again.

Created in France in 2014, the band composed today of Vincent Roubière (drums, Reverence, Silver Machine), Seb « Khan Hard » (guitar, Simulacre, ex-Ad Patres), Olaf (vocals, ex-Ossuary), Julien Rousseau (bass, ADX, ex-Hürlement) and Ogma (guitar, Manzer) announces the release of From Dust to Creation, its first album.

We start with The Eradication Dogma and its long introduction which lets guitars progressively arrive, then all instruments join the charge along with massive vocals to give life to the band’s Old School Death Metal. Sharp leads sometimes emerge from the thick mix just like on the lively Mirror of Transcendence, an aggressive composition which doesn’t leave the listener any moment of respite. The frantic riffs perfectly blend with powerful vocal parts and devastating blast while offering some more melodic parts before Divine’s Lament takes over with darker sounds. The catchy rhythmic remains anchored in its effective Old School roots, especially during this wild acceleration, then Fire Path of Punishment leaves us a short moment to catch our breath before striking with bloody riffs, remaining in the same thick and devastating tones. The album continues with Psychotic Troubled Senses, a jerky composition which will in my opinion be a weapon of choice to create crowd movements, break necks or federate a whole pit, then From Dust to Creation, the eponymous track, comes to wrap us in a veil of haunting darkness before releasing aggressiveness in fast and sharp riffs. The track will abruptly stop before letting Brood of Decomposition close the album in the purest tradition of violence, while leaving room for killer leads and heady tones towards the end.

With Fall of Seraphs, Old School Death Metal has a lot to offer. Although a bit short, From Dust to Creation perfectly knows how to combine efficient riffs, powerful vocals and a touch of darkness, making the album interesting.
