Hello Redouane and first of all, thank you for your time ! How could you present your solo project, without using the usual « Metal labels », such as « Black Metal », etc…
Redouane Aouameur (guitar/vocals): Hello, Hello to all and thanks to you too! My new project is a different universe, it’s a new concept. The concept of Fury Flight revolves around a young man who believes that he is perfect and adored by all. However, as he gets older, he realizes his flaws and tries to improve them. Unfortunately, every time he overcomes a weakness, he acquires a new one because of the changes he has made. This creates a vicious cycle in which he continues until he finally succumbs to his weaknesses, leading to his downfall. In short, Fury Flight is a story about the defeat of a young man who believes he is perfect but is actually a victim of a vicious circle of his own weaknesses.
Fury Flight, your first track, will be released next month, how do you feel ? What can you tell us about its creation?
Redouane: It’s been 5 years since I released anything, I find this feeling that we have when we release our own music and we expose it to others! The creation of Fury Flight was done in a few days, I wanted something really different from what I was used to do, and it came out of my guts! After that I recorded the demos and got a great drummer Norman Ceriotti and the rest you know!
How did you get the idea to create a solo project?
Redouane: I wanted to create a Black Metal band, I had even found the name, made the logo and everything, but I first opted for a solo project to get back into the swing of things, and to see what’s going on in the scene, then we’ll see.
How would you sum Fury Flight up in three words ?
Redouane : Sick, evil and slow
What were your influences for this new track, which is quite different from your other projects?
Redouane: I wanted to do Black Metal but I wanted to make it slow, really slow, so the result is Fury Flight. Otherwise, it’s going to be just as evil but less slow! We’ll say that Fury Flight is the ballad of my project
What are your short and long term objectives with your solo project ? Have you already composed other tracks ?
Redouane: The short term goals are to release two more tracks that are almost finished, and to release an EP by the end of 2023/beginning of 2024. Otherwise, in the long term, we’re going to do some shows, tour and release albums, the classic approach.
Beyond your projects, we often see you collaborating with other bands, how do the bands contact you, and what is your approach for an efficient collaboration?
Redouane: These bands contact me on different platforms like Fiverr, or others. They send me their music and I put my voice on it, I also write some lyrics for them and I also do the vocal lines. In general, for the collaboration to be effective, the person contacting me must really know what he wants and that everything is well set up, otherwise it’s sometimes very difficult to collaborate, but it brought me a lot of experience.
Do you think that you continue to improve as a musician and as a vocalist?
Redouane: As a vocalist I’ve been doing sessions on different platforms and this has allowed me to develop and learn other vocal techniques than the ones I was doing before. Before, I only did two techniques, Black and Death, now I can do up to 15 different techniques!
How did you discover the world of Metal, and in particular its extreme sub-genres?
Redouane: I first started with Hard Rock in the late 80’s with Scorpions, Motörhead and AC/DC. Then I wanted more sound and more noise, that’s when I discovered Thrash with Slayer and Metallica. Then I started listening to more extreme stuff and discovered the Tampa scene with Death, Deicide and Morbid Angel, and that’s where it all started.
Do you have a particular warm-up method before you start playing or recording?
Redouane: As I mentioned before, as I am an online session vocalist I practice almost every day, but I don’t warm up, but I always start with the easy parts to get into the swing of things.
Are there any musicians or artists you would like to collaborate with in the future on your solo project?
Redouane: For the moment I haven’t thought about it yet, but I would like to do it with one or more artists who are a little bit out of the ordinary, who do weird things, I think it would be good with Black Metal.
How is the Metal scene around you ? Are there any bands that you have recently discovered and that have marked you?
Redouane: Honestly, I’ve been out of the scene for a while now but I’m coming back in force, because I’m relaunching my webzine Lelahel Metal and I’m going to create some playlists on Spotify, see you in a few months?
As you consider doing some live performances with your solo project, which bands would you like to play with ? I let you create a poster with your project as an opening act, and three other bands.
Redouane: The 3 other bands would be Mayhem, Mg?a and Belphegor! It’s possible to dream, isn’t it?!

Redouane Aouameur (guitare/chant) : Hello, Bonjour à tous et merci à toi aussi ! Mon nouveau projet c’est un univers différent c’est un nouveau concept. Le concept de Fury Flight tourne autour d’un jeune homme qui croit qu’il est parfait et adoré de tous. Cependant, en vieillissant, il réalise ses défauts et tente de les améliorer. Malheureusement, à chaque fois qu’il surmonte une faiblesse, il en acquiert une nouvelle en raison des changements qu’il a apportés. Cela crée un cercle vicieux qu’il poursuit jusqu’à ce qu’il succombe finalement à ses faiblesses, conduisant ainsi à sa perte. En résumé, Fury Flight est une histoire sur la défaite d’un jeune homme qui croit être parfait mais qui est en réalité victime d’un cercle vicieux de ses propres faiblesses.
Fury Flight, ton premier titre, sort le mois prochain, comment te sens-tu ? Que peux-tu nous dire sur la création de ce titre ?
Redouane : Ca fait quand même déjà 5ans que je n’ai rien sorti, je retrouve cette sensation que l’on a quand on sort notre propre musique et qu’on l’expose aux autres ! La création de Fury Flight s’est faite en quelques jours, je voulais quelque chose de vraiment différent de ce que j’avais l’habitude de faire et c’est sorti des tripes ! Après j’ai enregistré les démos et j’ai fait appel à un excellent Batteur Norman Ceriotti et le reste vous le savez !
Comment t’es venue l’idée de créer un projet solo ?
Redouane : Je voulais créer un groupe de Black Metal, j’avais même trouvé le nom, fait le logo et tout, mais j’ai opté pour un projet solo en premier lieu histoire de se remettre dans le bain, et de voir ce qui se passe dans la scène, après on verra.
Comment résumerais-tu Fury Flight en trois mots ?
Redouane : Malsain, maléfique et lent
Quelles ont été tes influences pour ce nouveau morceau, qui est assez différent de tes autres projets ?
Redouane : Je voulais faire du Black Metal mais que ça soit lent, vraiment lent, donc le résultat a donné Fury Flight. Sinon pour le reste ça va être aussi maléfique mais moins lent ! On va dire que Fury Flight c’est la ballade de mon projet
Quels sont tes objectifs à court et à long terme avec ton projet solo ? Est-ce que tu as déjà composé d’autres titres ?
Redouane : Les objectifs à court termes c’est de sortir deux autres titres qui sont presque finis, et sortir un EP d’ici fin 2023/début 2024. Sinon à long terme faire des scènes, tourner et sortir des albums, l’approche classique.
Au-delà de tes projets, on te voit souvent collaborer avec d’autres groupes, comment est-ce que les groupes te contactent, et quelle est ton approche pour une collaboration efficace ?
Redouane : Ces groupes me contactent sur différentes plateformes comme Fiverr, ou autres. Ils m’envoient leur musique et je pose ma voix dessus, je leur écris aussi des fois des textes et je leur fais aussi les lignes vocales. En général pour que la collaboration soit efficace il faut que la personne qui me contacte sache vraiment ce qu’elle veut et que tout soit bien posé, sinon des fois c’est très difficile de collaborer mais ça m’a apporté beaucoup d’expérience.
Est-ce que tu penses que tu continues à t’améliorer en tant que musicien et vocaliste ?
Redouane : Comme je suis vocaliste session sur différentes plateformes cela m’a permis de me développer et d’apprendre d’autres techniques vocales que celles que je faisais avant. Avant, je ne faisais que deux techniques, le Black et le Death, maintenant je peux faire jusqu’à 15 techniques différentes !
Comment as-tu découvert l’univers du Metal, et en particulier ses sous-genres extrêmes ?
Redouane : J’ai commencé d’abord avec le Hard Rock à la fin des années 80 avec Scorpions, Motörhead et AC/DC. Puis j’ai voulu plus de son et plus de bruit, c’est là que j’ai découvert le Thrash avec Slayer et Metallica. Ensuite, je me suis mis à écouter des choses plus extrêmes et j’ai découvert la scène de Tampa avec Death, Deicide et Morbid Angel, et c’est là que tout a démarré.
Est-ce que tu as une méthode d’échauffement particulière avant de commencer à jouer, ou à enregistrer ?
Redouane : Comme je l’ai mentionné précédemment comme je suis vocaliste de session en ligne donc je pratique presque tous les jours, mais par contre je ne m’échauffe pas, mais je commence toujours par les parties faciles histoire de se mettre rapidement dans le bain.
Est-ce qu’il y a des musiciens ou artistes avec lesquels tu souhaiterais collaborer dans le futur sur ton projet solo ?
Redouane : Pour l’instant je n’y ai pas encore réfléchi, mais j’aimerai bien le faire avec un ou des artistes qui soient un peu décalés, hors du commun qui font des choses bizarres, je pense que ça donnerait bien avec du Black Metal.
Comment est la scène Metal autour de toi ? Est-ce qu’il y a des groupes que tu as récemment découverts et qui t’ont marqué ?
Redouane : Là franchement, ça fait quelque temps que je me suis déconnecté de la scène mais je reviens en force, car je relance mon webzine Lelahel Metal et je vais créer quelques playlists sur Spotify, on se revoit dans quelques mois ?
Dans l’idée où tu ferais de la scène avec ton projet solo, avec quels groupes souhaiterais-tu jouer ? Je te laisse créer une affiche avec ton projet en ouverture, et trois autres groupes.
Redouane : Les 3 autres groupes seraient Mayhem, Mg?a et Belphegor ! Il faut bien rêver non ?!
