Review 2832 : Lazer Throne – Tomb of the Lunar Oracle – English

Lazer Throne‘s vessel landed in 2025.

The first trace of its existence dates back to a track in 2022, but Voidseeker Acanthi Novah Anu is proud to collaborate with Northern Silence Productions for the release of his debut album, Tomb of the Lunar Oracle.

Her Jeweled Skull Shines No More is the first track to be presented to us, slowly enveloping us in its layers of keyboards before the strings weave their ethereal melodies to accompany them to the blaze. The saturation maintains this floating aspect as the blast beats pound us, paving the way for the terrifying screams in the background that haunt the piercing melodies, fueling the cosmic tones with a certain melancholy before letting A Funeral For Their Star reveal its oppression. The track is quite slow to start, initially offering a dark approach before the rhythm blossoms, slow and heavy, then finally more ethereal thanks to the keyboards before the arrival of the vocals, which reinforce the anxiety while guiding us through this dreamlike landscape, but the immensity of the void catches up with us and engulfs us before giving birth to Dark Star Drinks Her Radiant Tears. The track is by far the shortest, but also one of the darkest and most haunting, with its simple riffs that benefit from virulent accelerations, but also more vaporous passages that eventually blend into the general fury that will join They Forged Her Moon Into A Black Sword, the last composition. Beginning once again with a soothing tranquility, this last piece, which peaks at over seventeen minutes, takes us on a journey through its spatial mist with no saturation other than that of the keyboards, gradually reaching its climax and then letting the sound evaporate before it flares up again for a brief moment, then disappears completely.

While Lazer Throne perfectly masters the darkness of striking Atmospheric Black Metal, the musician also knows how to use keyboards to magnify the dungeon synth roots of Tomb of the Lunar Oracle. A pure delight.
