Review 2865 : Imperishable – Revelation in Purity – English

Imperishable has reached its first milestone.

After releasing a three-track demo in 2024, the band—comprising Brian Kingsland (guitar/vocals, Nile, Enthean), Alex Rush (bass, Enthean, Olkoth) and Derek Roddy (drums, Doomsilla, Isotropy, Serpents Rise, ex-Malevolent Creation, ex-Hate Eternal…) has signed with Everlasting Spew Records for the release of Revelation in Purity, its first album.

We start off at full throttle with Oath Of Disgust, which hits us hard from the very first seconds, but also shows us a certain technicality in its violence, even daring to add intriguing elements that complete the onslaught. The leads are surgically precise, but Exclusion Continuum takes over, installing a certain oppression in its rhythm while letting it progress slowly, but as we might expect, this calm will not last. Numerous eruptions of leads will disturb our progress through the apocalypse before a heavy final, then Revelation In Purity will once again speed us up to give free rein to its ferocity. The vocal parts are sometimes quite different, daring to use long groans before letting harmonics dress the rhythm with disturbing tones to join Spewing Retribution, which immediately picks up the pace and in turn bludgeons us by combining savagery and complexity at every moment. We move on to the raw groove of Iniquity, which takes its place but returns to mystical dissonance by slowing down, before thickening again and becoming more aggressive, creating an interestingly irregular flow. This balance is broken again by Where Dead Omens Croon, which starts off very virulently but is also the shortest track on the album, preceding the long The Enduring Light Of Irreverance, which allows itself all kinds of paces over the course of its seven minutes, moving from a devastating blast to a melancholic solo or scratchy harmonics that overlap to amplify the chaos before a rather melodious end.

Imperishable‘s signature style is first and foremost violence, but we quickly find ourselves overwhelmed by the technicality and many other elements on Revelation in Purity. The album is very rich and deserves several listens.
