Synthre reveals itself to the world.
Created in Finland by Mircea Purdea (Exhalus), the project presents its first EP, Heterodoxa, in 2025.
He Comes immediately immerses us in dissonant and distressing Black Metal to which the hazy vocals add a more aggressive but also more visceral touch. Piercing harmonics multiply, meeting unexpected choirs that contribute to the heavy atmosphere, but the sound eventually calms down and gradually fades away until it meets the gentle introduction of A Sudden Storm, which gradually ignites. Oriental tones join the oppressive mix, but leads and keyboards respond to each other on this organized chaotic base, finally leading to Exaltation, where we find riffs’ heaviness and disturbing whispers, while retaining those tangled and haunting guitars. The sound becomes increasingly suffocating, but eventually fades away little by little, giving way to Thy Word is Tempest, which gradually picks up the imbroglio of the previous tracks, adding its jerky and irregular touch, creating a disturbing echo effect that joins Thy Gaze is Fire, where the riffs remain fairly constant, ultimately proving quite hypnotic over time, but still reserving some livelier and more aggressive parts before disappearing for good.
Although rooted in Atmospheric Black Metal, Synthre breaks free from convention by offering long, dissonant instrumental sections. Heterodoxa is a first draft that allows us to familiarize ourselves with his haunting universe, and one that seems quite promising to me.
