It’s showtime for Teratoma.
After a five-year wait, Dani (vocals), Sandro (guitar), Giacomo (bass), Rolo (guitar), and Caue (drums) are ready to release their second album, Longing Veracity, on Me Saco un Ojo Records.
Exordium, a harrowing intro lasting just over a minute, sets the stage with a sample followed by macabre guitars that lead into Longing Veracity, the title track where the band’s impressive Old School sound really comes into focus. The musicians make no compromises, delivering riff after riff, scream after scream, while still taking the time to slip in a few searing leads before bringing us back to Chaotic Bewilderment, which relies on a more jerky approach to win us over. The riffs are more aggressive on this track, but also heavier, delivering crushing blows just like on Ravaged and Absorbed, which starts off slightly slower before picking up steam and settling into a rather catchy cruising pace. The break slows the composition down again, then the solo revs the machine back up before Perpetual Anguish, which offers an interesting groove while remaining rooted in rumbling, thick Old School tones, as well as sharper harmonics. We continue at a slow pace with Circle of Perdition, a track that gives us barely a few seconds to shift into second gear before unleashing its putrid sounds, all while playing with the rhythm to keep our attention by pounding us relentlessly; then Interim offers us a true moment of respite with a gentle melody. An unsettling flute joins the sound, followed by a distorted lead section, before the band plunges us into Festering Realm and its violent darkness, crushing us under its irregular riffs and delivering a final, particularly unifying wave before letting Spewing Atrocities darken the atmosphere even further. While the introduction is suffocating, the rest of the track will simply leave us gasping for air under its riffs before waking us up with Stertorous Whisper, a far more virulent final composition that in turn tramples us without any mercy and gives absolutely everything it has for a massive final.
Teratoma didn’t hold back, and with Longing Veracity delivers devastating Death Metal the likes of which are rarely seen! Between dark touches and Old School roots, fans of the genre had better brace themselves!
