The long-awaited return of Resurrected!
Having been relatively quiet since their last single in 2022, the band—now signed to Testimony Records and featuring Thomas Granzow (guitar, Grind Inc.), Chris Mieves (vocals, Grind Inc., ex-Hate Factor), Dennis Thiele (drums, Brutal Unrest, Prostitute Disfigurement), Christoph Zeller (guitar), and Marius Baron (bass, Obsolete Incarnation), unveils its eighth album, Perpetual, in 2026.
Unholy Intercession greets us with a siren, followed by an initial series of Brutal Death-oriented riffs, complemented by ferocious vocals, before Human Wrath hits us full force, immediately adding a touch of complexity to its already jagged rhythm section. The leads are no slouch either, and I have no doubt the track’s ability to get a crowd headbanging or moshing, just like Forever Damned, which immediately follows suit with a similar approach. The track gives us no respite except for the transition, but Into Mighty Death immediately takes over and, in turn, delivers controlled violence from start to finish, using perfectly executed bursts to maintain a brisk pace. The track is fairly short, however, unlike Sanity Is Lost, which employs slightly slower but equally effective headbanging patterns, eventually developing a more pronounced Old School vibe as it progresses. We then move on to the imposing Decomposed, which in turn tramples us underfoot, but the band clearly isn’t done with us yet, as they invite Konstantin “Konni” Lühring (Despondency, ex-Defeated Sanity, ex-Revulsed) to reinforce the vocal assault. This track will have no trouble winning us over, just like Immaculate Deception, which immediately takes off at full speed and knocks us to the ground repeatedly, not hesitating to slow down only to accelerate again, while Echoes of Creation, which follows closely behind, opts for a spasmodic rhythm to unleash its full power. We slow the pace down a bit for title track Perpetual which favors heaviness and crushing palm-mutes with a few breaks to lead us to the choruses or unleash the piercing solo, then Infernal Desire, a Malevolent Creation cover, revs the machine back up with unflagging velocity, thus bringing the album to a close in unrelenting brutality.
Fans of Brutal Death Metal are already familiar with their previous releases, and Perpetual will quickly join their ranks, offering nothing new but pure effectiveness. I’m thrilled to see Resurrected back in action!
