Review 466 : Aryoch – The Arrival – English

The number of French bands is increasing lately, and Aryoch is part of this new wave.

Created in 2019, the band composed of Lucas Henry (vocals), Louis Borel Pasmanian (guitar), Tom Larboni (guitar) and Nathan Coelho (drums) offers today The Arrival, its first EP.

The band’s style can be found halfway from an impressive Symphonic Death Metal and a piercing Black Metal, and the melting promises violence! The band begins with Lost in Darkness, a song with heady orchestrations that offers solid riffs and vocals oscillating between vicious screams and cavernous howlings. Even during breaks, aggressiveness isn’t that far, like on the anguishing Undead Wizard’s Worship. Rhythmic are both heavy and frantic, allowing those powerful howlings and Symphonic elements to feed themselves of this violent basis to develop the band’s universe. Softer leads create a contrast with those layers of darkness, as for Malefika, a mystical song. The song picks into an impressive Brutal Death to which a piercing sound grafts itself, giving an unholy deepness to the band’s riffs, then Monolith of a Thousand Dementias strikes with a massive rhythm part. Once again, orchestrations add this part of majestic blackness, while howlings shape the sound’s violent aspect. La Valse des Limbes, (“Limbo’s Waltz” in french) the last song, offers once again this impressive melting between pure brutality and sumptuous catchy ambiences.

Aryoch’s first EP is promising. The Arrival sets the basis of a violent and ice-cold style, catchy and impressive, but also very rich and that draws inspiration from the style’s giants, while adding their own touch.
