Review 942 : Stabbing – Ravenous Psychotic Onslaught – English

Stabbing offers us its first EP.

After a first demo mid 2021, Bridget Lynch (vocals, Pyosisified, ex-Cerebral Engorgement, ex-Nephilim Grinder), Marvin Ruiz (guitar, Dysmetria, Nephilim Grinder, ex-Desecrate the Faith), Meryl Martinez (bass, Scattered Remains, ex-Entropy) and Rene Martinez (drums, Scattered Remains, Disfigured, ex-Whore of Bethlehem) sign with Comatose Music for the release of Ravenous Psychotic Onslaught.

In eleven minutes, the band will convince us of their strength. You don’t believe it? Too bad. Splatter Pit will crush us in no time with a groovy and banging Old School Slam Death. If you’re not convinced by the drums sound, you will probably be by wild howlings, as well as those aggressive patterns that continue on Ravenous Psychotic Onslaught. The song is also quite short and it focuses on raw and uncompromising strength which picks into a melting of the style’s roots and a modern mix. The hooking groove and dissonant harmonics persist on Excrement Sarcophagus, an extremely heavy song, which will in my opinion be one of the band’s spearhead on scene. Energetic patterns meet this wave of violence that lets the bloody groove work before Gutted by the Beast. Riffs start over pure brutality with some more technical parts, but the band continues to clubber us without dead time. The rhythmic slows a bit down before the end, then it leaves us after burying us.

You didn’t know about Stabbing? Me neither. However, this band which is born last year from the gathering of American musicians proves us with Ravenous Psychotic Onslaught that they perfectly know how Old School Slam sounds, and they’re ready to take over.
