Fourth album in sight for Vrag.
Three years after his last production, Roland Neubauer (all instruments/vocals, Frozen Wreath, Witcher, live for Earth Plague) is ready to unveil Rendületlenül, in collaboration with his label Filosofem Records.
The album kicks off with Rendületlenül, the eponymous track that hypnotizes us with its first few notes before throwing us into its flood of darkness, where icy riffs and ferocious growls are already rampant. The ambient ferocity of this impressive yet haunting rhythm creates a coherent contradiction that continues with the slow, soothing Egyedül a világ ellen, an initially dark and melancholic composition that is emboldened by the energy of despair to take us along for the ride. The track’s constant rhythm is brought to a halt again for a final eruption before giving way to Árny vagyok, which immediately displays threatening tones, confirmed by that scathing guitar and the furious blast in the background. The rhythm will break several times, but it always picks itself up and continues on its way until the final blaze that leads to Él a múlt, a lively but very melodic track that throws us into the heart of the blizzard, leaving us a few moments to admire the sublime landscape before raging again. The sound abruptly cuts off to give way to anxiety with the terrifying introduction of Ahol az érték megsemmisül and its unhealthy melody that comes out of nowhere to lead us towards its much more welcoming rhythm, once again tarnished by the ferocious vocal parts. We find ourselves tossed about in the midst of this gripping surge, which ceases to let Önmegtagadás give us a brief moment’s respite, then picks up again with its intense, heady sound from the depths, interspersed once more with a few moments of salvific floating, but which always ends up making us dive back into its troubled waters before finally releasing us.
Rendületlenül is a disorienting album that takes us on a journey into a dark, icy universe. It’s not Vrag‘s first work, but it’s easy to see that his universe is captivating.
