A new stage for Tormentor Tyrant.
Following their debut EP two years ago, M.Malignant (bass/vocals, Corpsessed, Profetus), S.Envenom (guitar/vocals, Cataleptic, ex-Solothus) and J.Carnage (drums, Cataleptic, Solothus) renew their partnership with Everlasting Spew Records for the release of their debut album, Excessive Escalation of Cruelty.
Something moves on the floor as Intro – Upheaval of Tyranny sounds, then roars and screaming guitar reach us before the rhythm kicks in, then explodes on Capital of Pain. The track is fast, incisive and, above all, uncompromising, blending solid, polished Death Metal with cutting touches that fit perfectly with the frenzied approach we’ll also find on Torture Divine, where the vocal parts become wilder. At times, the two vocalists follow on almost without a break from the hellish rhythm that leads into the thick Tartarean Iron Grip, where hints of Thrash complete the violence and give it an uncontrollably savage touch that calms down with Crueler Tomorrow. It’s still disturbing, however, thanks to that heavy bass, followed by a new eruption of raw violence with jerky Old School roots that allow it to hit the nail on the head very often, stringing together bloody harmonics before Pit of Anguish takes its place with a slightly slower tempo, but still guaranteeing its share of fury. We continue with Cosmic Wild Hunt and its martial march, which first tramples us mercilessly, then allows us to catch our breath before speeding off again on more heady patterns. The ranting returns from the very first moments of Terminal Revelation, a furious and almost uninterrupted composition that hammers us with its riffs and screams, then gives way to Heavy Death Bombardment, the longest track on the album and in the band’s discography, which tramples us mercilessly and grows darker as it progresses to a frightening finale.
Their first EP had already impressed me, but Excessive Escalation of Cruelty confirms my impression: Tormentor Tyrant only knows violence. Although a bit short, the album is destined to deliver more bloody slices of rage!
