Redemption is at hand for Balance Breach.
Signed to Out of Line Music, Terho Korhonen (guitar), Saku Heimonen (guitar), Antti Halonen (drums), Joni Härkönen (bass) and Aleksi Paasonen (vocals) unveil their third album, Save Our Souls, in 2025.
The album kicks off with the energetic Maniacs which takes a fairly Old School Metalcore approach, but with a modern mix where saturated and clean vocals naturally take turns to energize or soften the sound. The energetic parts are perfect for live performance, as is the menacing intro to Come Undone, followed by explosive riffs where dark tones and heavy moments hit us in turn, while livelier samples shake in the background. The band welcomes Hand of Juno for Strangers In Crime, a track fairly balanced between moments of violence (including this break presented by Melissa Bruschi) and more soaring passages, then Just To Lose It All returns to pure rage coupled with a few airy tones that take a much more prominent place on the chorus. Distress offers us a moment’s respite and continues to fuel the band’s sound futuristic aspect, which quickly segues into Save Our Souls, where saturated vocals and rhythm become very jerky, only calming down with the appearance of backing vocals on the chorus. The band adopts a much calmer Post-Hardcore vibe on Million Miles Away, which still has its moments of rage thanks to Aleksi‘s saturated vocals, which dominate the break. Philip Strand (Normandie) then joins the musicians to give Antidote a similar yet heady duality. Back to raw energy with Let The Wind Blow, where the band’s influences are clearly identifiable thanks to the gripping choruses, then the sound again weaves its duality with the aptly named Sing Me To Sleep (The Last Song), which closes the album with some really sweet passages, but also this moment of pure fury and a piercing solo before bowing out.
Balance Breach have pulled out all the stops to make Save Our Souls their breakthrough album, and I have every hope that their career will explode! What they describe as the “new chapter” promises to be more than interesting.
