First cry for Nekyros.
Created by Cristián Yans (guitar/bass) and Dany Tee (vocals/drum programming), the duo behind Los Males Del Mundo, the new project unveils Nyxian Path, its debut album, with the support of the label Northern Silence.
A Road To Walk gets straight to the heart of the matter, with a raw rhythm that effortlessly adopts mystical vocal parts, then raucous, sometimes even visceral howls, while the rhythm allows a few melancholy leads to join this hurricane of fury. While the instrumental allows itself a moment of calm, the screams don’t let up until The Entrance Pt I brings us out of the chaos with the sweetness of its introduction, but the infernal saturation once again takes its place to drown us in its vortex of haunting darkness. The clean sound reappears at times to contrast with the dynamic Old School approach that regularly descends into DSBM-style despair, but the track is long and allows the riffs to metamorphose at will before joining Fortress Of The Damned, which quickly lifts the veil on its rage. The impenetrable rhythmic pattern lets the roars emerge from its continuous flow while lacerating us with its rapid flow, allowing itself a few more imposing pauses to let us breathe, then The Entrance Pt II welcomes us with a rather reassuring introduction. This is, of course, annihilated to allow violence to express itself once again in a relatively melodious way, showing itself again only at very rare moments or shining through in the less virulent parts, such as the one that gives rise to the vindictive vocals and then the majestic final before giving way to In The Shores Of Time. The composition gets off to a ferocious start, but Dany‘s piercing wails really took me by surprise, giving a whole new hue to the icy riffs that surround us, providing that shiver of anguish that will last until its final moments.
Although deemed unsuitable for Los Males Del Mundo, the riffs that make up Nyxian Path are absolutely perfect for Nekyros, and allow this project to develop a real personality that’s just as tortured and visceral.
