Hanging Garden has already released its new EP.
In 2025, Mikko Kolari (guitar), Jussi Hämäläinen (guitar/vocals), Nino Hynninen (keyboards), Toni Hatakka (vocals), Jussi Kirves (bass, Inland), Antti Ruokola (drums), Riikka Hatakka (vocals) and Kimmo Tukiainen (guitar) – assisted by Jarno Hänninen (Dead End Finland) on keyboards – unveil The Unending on Agonia Records.
To Seize the Night greets us with an icy breeze followed by the singer’s growls, then the whole band joins in to bewitch us with a soothing heaviness, interspersed with steamier passages. The heady “night is long” chorus is definitely one of the most haunting, releasing us only to let the gentleness intervene before letting The Passage take its place to enjoy the soaring keyboards and harmonics before the intense duality strikes back. The vocalists take it in turns to lead the soothing riffs or, on the contrary, the rough ones, before Morgan’s Trail takes over with piercing harmonics that perfectly match its majestic touch. Lighter touches air out the track before letting it become heavy again, but The First Sunrise quickly takes its place and lulls us into its own luminous quietude, barely overshadowed by the more imposing, saturated Doom passages that bring the EP to a close.
Although we’d have liked it to have lasted longer, The Unending knows perfectly well how to capture our minds and bewitch them with steamy sonorities. Hanging Garden remains very consistent on its releases, much to our delight.
