Review 3072 : Girlzeroth – Fight Against Stigma – English

Girlzeroth is starting a new chapter.

Since its beginnings in Indonesia in 2008, the band has undergone numerous lineup changes, but now, under the leadership of Neng Jemping (guitar), Emil (bass), Andry (vocals), and Upan (drums), it is unveiling Fight Against Stigma, its new EP.

A gentle oriental melody opens the doors to Ignition, a rather mysterious introduction where wind and whispers intertwine, but violence strikes at full speed as soon as Fight Against Stigma, the eponymous track, takes over. Andry‘s beastly roars meet massive rhythms and complex, jerky patterns, offering only slower, dissonant touches as a moment of respite, but the furious riffs take over again to assault us, just like on Abolition Carnage, where we find similar patterns. Everything in this track is designed to make us break our necks headbanging, always rivaling each other in aggression before moving on to Hypocritical Mask, where double kick and high tempo play off each other while the screams continue to crush us. Truth in Collapse offers a slightly different rhythm to start the song, but the band eventually returns to its usual onslaught, allowing itself a few more accessible passages between two waves of rage that eventually accelerate for Servant of Sinner and its unstoppable riffs in their quest for devastation. The song is undoubtedly the most devastating on the EP, but unfortunately it’s a bit short and quickly gives way to The End Strike, a haunting sampled outro mixing ominous strings and a mysterious voice until silence.

Girlzeroth only composes with violence on this new EP, but they do it well! The band knows how to take advantage of their influences to make Fight Against Stigma a real uppercut to mark the beginning of 2026.
