Jupiter marks its triumphant return with a new album.
Formed in 2013 by members of Versailles – without the vocalist – the band released three albums before disbanding nine years later. Guitarists Hizaki and Teru, joined by singer Kuze (Screaming Symphony, formerly Concerto Moon), recruited Cero on bass and Majyu (Gellonimo, ex-Jikuu Kaizoku Seven Seas) to release their fourth album, The Pantheon ~Age of Heroes~, in 2026.
Although the lineup has undergone changes throughout the band’s career, it’s always a pleasure to hear the Hizaki/Teru duo again, as their collaborative projects are known for their energetic sound, and the addition of Kuze – who masterfully balances powerful vocals with softer moments – is a true delight for the ears. The new rhythm section holds its own perfectly, whether during intense moments or when accompanying the numerous solos and lead parts that lend their distinctive flavor to the band’s riffs. They’re also joined by violinist Jill (Unlucky Morpheus, Unholy Orpheus, ex-Rose Noire) on ENDLESS SKY, the opening track. The band’s intensity really stands out on tracks like My Enemy with its dynamic Power Metal sound, Scorched Earth, which quickly takes on a slightly darker tone, and Ecliptic, which draws on more traditional Heavy Metal roots, a style that’s extremely enjoyable when executed with such mastery. However, the two most original tracks for me remain Last Ambrosia, an instrumental piece that lets the musicians really let loose, and the title track Age of Heroes, which once again showcases the five musicians’ fascinating creativity.
Fortunately, Jupiter’s hiatus didn’t last long, and the return of this notable Neoclassical Power Metal band is a real treat for fans. I can only encourage you to listen to The Pantheon ~Age of Heroes~, but also to check out their upcoming live shows, especially those scheduled for Europe in 2027!
