Be ready to enter Explicit Human Porn’s universe.
Created in 2016 in Paris, the band composed of Lowe North (vocals), David Revan (guitar), Crypp Mor (bass, Except One) and Kevin Lanssen (drums) is about to unveil In Excexx, their first EP. Between a post-apocalyptic visual identity and Alternative/Indus sounds, you won’t emerged unscathed.
We begin with Cheatcodes, a song with modern, catchy but above all worrying and heavy sonorities. The vocalist alternates between massive howlings and reassuring clean vocals, letting however the rhythmic create an oppressive background, while Foodporn plays on aggression and anguishing sounds. More raw, Industrial riffs stay dark and groovy, and it’s easy to join the game. Samples come to strenghten this ice-cold aspect, and it’s time to go for Radiosilk. Modernity and violence collide at full force inside of a composition led by the singer’s interventions. Riffs are budging, and even if the chorus is more quiet, we feel that rage isn’t this far.
X-Rated is probably the song that counts the most on EBM influences without neglecting musicians, adding a dancing aspect, mainly thanks to samples. The rhythmic is effective, just like Zero Solid Bodies is devastating. This more orchestral song is a true hymn to destruction which is as oppressive than intriguing, and the listener is still fascinated by what swoops on him. We go back on the catchy groove for Madmeds, that highlights a simple but heady rhythm. A bass slap part to revive the rhythm, and vocals will finally fade away. To close this chapter, the band decided to cover Keine Lust, an underrated song by german titans Rammstein. So we have this disturbing and martial sound that perfectly fits to their universe, and we couldn’t expect a better final one.
This first overview of the apocalyptic universe related by Explicit Human Porn is exquisite. Dirty, disturbing, oppressive yet very catchy, In Excexx is just the first production of a band that asks nothing more than to fight.
