The time has come for Emasculator.
Created by the collaboration of musicians Mallika Sundaramurthy (vocals, Nidorous, Unfathomable Ruination, ex-Abnormality), Teresa Wallace (guitar, Cartilage, Muldrotha, Feast), Morgehenna (guitar, PoonTickler) and Cierra White (drums, Harboured, Oak, Ash & Thorn), the combo signs with New Standard Elite to unveil The Disfigured and the Divine, their first EP.
Ecstasy In Disseverment (Of Self) immediately lays the foundations for an as brutal as technical Death Metal, fully inspired by its predecessors to strike with a rare violence, letting each musician show us the extent of her talents. The final moshpart is also very well handled, and In Resplendent Terror naturally follows with regular strikes that stun us between the screaming harmonics the guitarists don’t hesitate to use. We move on to Thesmophoric Rites, which creates a relatively heavy atmosphere while developing thick jerky riffs, before welcoming Vishal Singh (The Fractured Dimension) and Swathi Kalahasti on The Unassailable, giving life to the cover drawn by the vocalist. The track is oppressive, but still has an intriguing ritualistic edge to it, which the band play on before returning to pure violence on Eradication Of The Asuras, which at times borrows from Slam Death with distinctly slower passages. Age Of The Goddess follows with a beastly approach, while Daniela “Dahlien” Neumanová (The Corona Lantern, Noisebleed, ex-Diligence) takes a place on vocals, before Supreme Void Of Acephalous Being brings the EP to a close with a steady stream of powerful complex riffs.
Although Emasculator is a young project, The Disfigured and the Divine has nothing to envy the masters of the genre. Each member already has an impressive CV, and the band intends to prove their worth with this debut EP! When can we expect a live performance?
