Dissociated strikes with its new EP.
Entitled No Connections, it comes from the work of Kevin Soto (vocals), Raúl Muñoz (guitar), Toni P. Sánchez (bass/vocals) and Lucas (drums), in collaboration with Art Gates Records.
Self-Destructive Chains opens with a dissonant guitar that gradually locks us into a rather heavy atmosphere, before being joined by the other instruments that accentuate the oppression until the furious vocal parts arrive. The rhythm becomes extremely jerky and brings a raw groove that quickly becomes catchy, but the onslaught soon gives way to No Connections after a short break, returning to its heavy riffs. Vocalizations fuel the aggression of the saturated eruptions, just as on Endless Waves, which nuances its raw parts with very airy touches, but there are also some more piercing, even ethereal harmonics that fit perfectly with the suffocating final break on which the band naturally goes wild. Timeless Remorse follows without a moment’s pause, with a similar approach pairing screams and jerky riffs under a layer of hazy guitar, before Lost in Traces finishes us off with a marked contrast between rage and more intoxicating sweetness, weaving a flow conducive to the best roars from Kevin and Toni.
Dissociated doesn’t pull any punches with No Connections; the EP gets straight to the point, but offers us a few rare moments of respite before striking again. I have no doubts about these compositions’ effectiveness live.
