Three years after their debut album, Drudensang are back with a new EP.
Geysterzvvang is the work of Krámpn (bass/vocals, Alpgeist, ex-Gràb), Henker (keyboards, Atronos, Ad Mortem, ex-Temple of Oblivion), Percht (guitar) and Nefastus (drums, ex-Belphegor…) and is released via Folter Records.

The album gets off to a slow start with the mysterious sound of Geysterzvvang, the eponymous track that slowly lets us into its darkness, first marvelling us with its gentle tones, but then bursting into flames with saturation. The violence resumes immediately on Vvydargaenger, where the melodies express themselves in a rather vindictive way over a sustained tempo, allowing for a furious Old School approach while being supported by more majestic and epic passages. The composition eventually runs out of steam, giving way to Hoellenkunst im brennend Aether and its solid rhythm section, where the harmonics remain sharp and infused with savage Pagan Black Metal, but there are also a few moments of floating, such as the airy finale that rubs off on Offenbarung der Lvzier, a track that is both furious but also quite polished. The track carries us along at its own pace, sometimes changing pace before a salvific break in the middle, before speeding off again and once more distilling its aggression, which reaches a peak in its final moments before a gentle melody that finally leads us to Blutkreys Teufeley, which immediately regains its original rage. Although the first part of the track doesn’t make a fuss, it’s still quite imposing thanks to the keyboards, but the band doesn’t hold back in diversifying its approach and adding a furious solo before Miasma lets us out of their forest in the company of those angelic keyboards.
Although the band has been around for over a decade, Drudensang remains relatively unknown outside its local scene. I hope that Geysterzvvang‘s furious, melodious riffs will contribute to their future renown!
