Review 3107 : Predatory Void – Atoned In Metamorphosis – English

The adventure continues for Predatory Void.

While their first album opened doors for them in 2023, the band led by Lennart Bossu (guitar, Amenra, Oathbreaker, Living Gate), Lina R. (vocals, Cross Bringer), Thijs De Cloedt (guitar, Cobra The Impaler, ex-Aborted), Vincent Verstrepen (drums, Carnation, ex-Schizophrenia) and now Kris Auman (bass, EndlingR) presently signed with Pelagic Records for the release of its new EP, Atoned In Metamorphosis.

Make Me Whole begins with an unexpected softness created by Lina‘s voice and a simple melody in the background, but the intensity grows naturally, making the vocals more imperfect before the arrival of saturation that suddenly envelops us in its dissonance, ultimately leading to New Moon, where it adopts even heavier Black Metal touches. The screams come suddenly during a more stripped-down moment that contrasts with the almost accessible, soaring passages, and the madness ultimately mixes all the elements together, bringing them out without warning, alternating between heaviness, darkness, and disturbing tones while the vocalist pours her heart out. The final suggests a gentle breeze, but the storm suddenly rises before giving way to Peeling Cycle and its haunting tones, which adopt airy notes to hypnotize our minds before the base ignites to assault us in our trance. but the track is short and fades out, giving way to Contemplation, which unleashes its own blend of dissonance and disturbance, as unpredictable as it is oppressive, resembling a veritable wall of oppression rather than any kind of melody. And then, suddenly, the end.

Predatory Void‘s multiple influences make it a unique project, discreet but always ready to surprise, and it shows through its releases. The album had already taken us aback, and Atoned In Metamorphosis’ raw tones perpetuate that shock.
