Nunslaughter hasn’t hung up its weapons.
After nearly forty years in the business, the band led by Don of the Dead (vocals, Nighnacht, Töndra), Tormentor (guitar, Mutated Sex Organ, Solipsist, BloodTusk), Wrath (drums, Töndra, BloodTusk), and Malum (bass, Ancient VVisdom) has signed with BLKIIBLK Records for the release of its sixth album, Satanic Chaos Legion.

We kick things off with the sound of boots on Satanic Chaos Legions, a track that makes no compromises and delivers raw, straightforward Death Metal with catchy Old School roots that will have more than a few heads banging at live shows and it doesn’t let up, though the track quickly hands the baton over to Jesus Fucking Dies’ Death/Grind. Here too, the Americans show no mercy; the band focuses on pure efficiency to deliver just over a minute of pure violence before letting Unsacrament follow suit, unleashing another dose of aggression that’s just as unhealthy and unholy. There’s nothing complicated about this track, but the flow over the choppy rhythm section is excellent, even allowing a few leads to add a stinging touch before Christian Ruse steps in with his thick, slightly slower but clearly no less virulent rhythm section. Another aggressive burst comes with “Die Your Own Death” and its furious, fast-paced patterns, culminating in a torrent of blast beats toward the end, followed immediately by Rotten Messiah with its sharp Death/Thrash influences that fit perfectly with the previous track. The band slows things down with the arrival of Peukharist, a suffocating track that starts with bass and drums, then layers some vocal parts in the background before letting the guitar complete the oppressive atmosphere while the vocalist roars, laying down Sludge roots that let you catch your breath as best you can while being trampled. The pace picks up again with In the Flames of Inferno, and its lacerating harmonics blend perfectly with the restless foundation, but the ending remains fairly calm compared to Heavenless, which follows and – though quite slow – immediately plunges us into this anxiety thanks to the screams in the background. The musicians suddenly pick up the pace with Lucifer the Light, a devastating track as only the band knows how to deliver that shows us no mercy before handing the baton to Cathedral of Stench, a song that, like its predecessor, aims solely to make us headbang frantically while blaspheming along with the band at various tempos. We gladly take advantage of the intro sample on Listen to the Lies to catch our breath before the new wave hits us full force, battering us at full speed until Infernal Reign takes over with a similar approach; then, on The Spear of Satan, the furious riffs finally come to an end but not before shredding our eardrums one last time to the rhythm of Death Metal.
Although the band has kept a low profile lately, Nunslaughter is more than ready for yet another act of blasphemy, spewing openly unholy and furious Death Metal onto Satanic Chaos Legion. Half an hour of pure violence.
