Review 646 : Siniestro – Vortexx – English

Siniestro is back, and you will move.

Created in 2012 in Sweden, the band is composed of Commander (vocals/guitar/bass, IXXI, ex-Bloodofjupiter, ex-Graverape Ritual) and The Machine (drums, Terminal Prospect, ex-Dogma, ex-Graverape Ritual) for Vortexx, their second album.

The band’s universe is made of a raw melting between Black Metal, Punk and Thrash Metal, that strikes us since One Last Bullet One Last Ride, a vivid and energetic song. They offer a sharp sound with motivating patterns, surmounted by howlings full of a morbid rage that honors the style, just like the heavy Vortex. The song was created with the only goal to make a crowd move, while Blod Eld DöD offers us a totally different universe. Even if we recognize this quite raw Black/Thrash, the band adds very airy elements for a long mesmerizing composition full of soaring leads. The song accelerated, then comes back to this heady melting, while Black Acid Rain is once again made of a dark energy. Hiisi comes to ease the game with a short clean sounding instrumental, that will let place to Escape By Death, a new composition full of energy and rage. Black Metal harmonics easily find their way inside of this motivated rhythmic, then the band offers a both hooking and cold melody on the very short Den Svartaste Flamman Och Renaste Hat. Punk roots are more than obvious, then we go back to the explosive blackness with Buried in the Bog. The song melts rage and sharp leads, then Anti Human Commando, the album’s longest track, makes us sink again into darkness. If we still feel some Thrash patterns, Black Metal is the highlighted element of this nearly ten minutes song, on which the band pours its hatred. My Innermost Sun closes the album with a majestic instrumental made of restful keyboards.

Siniestro’s universe is made of unhealthy energy spurts, giving Vortexx a taste of blood. Aggressive compositions are splitted by some more quiet parts, creating an interesting contrast the band directly shaped for the stage.
