Grab a drink, the Drunk Motherfuckers are back.
Formed in 2009 in Greece, the band released a debut album in 2013, then ceased its activity the following year. But Father W (vocals, Dødsferd, Grab, ex-Nadiwrath), Andrew (guitar), Wee (guitar/bass) and Mavrikos Skarakis (drums) haven’t said their last word, because they they announced in 2022 the release of Dead End, their new EP, through Fucking Your Creation Records.
From the very first notes of Black Out Drunk, the groovy sound is very catchy, allowing heady vocals to settle on those pure thick Stoner riffs. The very melodious but also very solid track will offer more airy parts thanks to the leads, then Hating Myself offers us more jerky elements and choruses as well as a good fix of effects. The track borrows from Blues for the transcendent airy leads, and from Doom to feed this haunting slowness which will give way to the energetic Saint’s Wee(D)ay and its faster rhythmic. The song is still perfect to shake your head with the strange choirs, then dissonance drives us to a very catchy Old School part before Seven Livers’ Wish closes this EP with softer tones, letting heady leads come to life on this solid rhythmic.
The return of Drunk Motherfuckers offers us a dive into a catchy and heady Stoner. Dead End marks the beginning of a new era for the musicians, and is firmly anchored in greasiness and saturation.
