Review 2701 : Haemorrhage – Opera Medica – English

New operation for Haemorrhage.

With this new EP entitled Opera Medica, Luisma (guitar/vocals, Depopulation Department, ex-Avulsed), Lugubrious (vocals), Ana Belen de Lopez (guitar, Depopulation Department) and Daviti (drums) – assisted by Dani Álvarez (bass, Frozen Dawn) – also announce their first collaboration with Hells Headbangers Records.

Scalpels, Scissors and Other Forensick Instruments begins with sampled vocals and an electric saw, then the various tools are called upon to accompany the first moments of this jerky rhythm, from which the wild growls will eventually emerge. The filthy sound spreads even to the tortured solo, then Polyclinic Abattoirs takes over with energetic, catchy patterns in the purest Grind tradition and its contagious rage. Obstetric Phantom then offers a fairly heavy sound where abrasive riffs develop, taking advantage of slower moments to explode louder, then we move on to the waves of violence of Nomenclator Pathologicum which strike regularly, including curiously disturbing leads while the vocalist roars. The EP closes with Deathevokation, a cover of Swedish legend Dismember, to which the band affixes its bold style to complement the obvious violence already present on the original track, and assert powerful Death roots.

Haemorrhage‘s surgeons have again butchered their riffs with sounds as fat and sharp as they are gory and aggressive. Opera Medica probably won’t change your job if you don’t like it, but it will guarantee you a good 15 minutes of headbanging!
