Serpent Corpse celebrates its signing with a new EP!
Two years after their debut album, the Canadian band consisting of Adam Breault (guitar), Andrew Haddad (bass/vocals), Christian Lacroix (guitar), and Zachariah Su (drums) has teamed up with Transcending Obscurity Records to release Retaliate.

Brazen Serpent welcomes us with unsettling sounds that quickly transform into heavy riffs with vindictive influences, which become even more menacing when the vocals kick in. Hardcore roots add a touch of savagery to the thick Death Metal, offering a catchy groove that can be found on Iron Corpse, which follows without delay, but the approach is quite different, slower and more dissonant, even daring to feature a melodious harmonic duel. The track returns to its usual rage and driving pace, then The Undying slows things down once again, borrowing from an unhealthy Death/Doom style before striking with jerky riffs that create waves of aggression between two calmer but no less abrasive passages. The explosive finale leads us to the last composition, Meteor Summon, which, in addition to being the longest, is also the most surprising, daring to incorporate ethereal and rather disturbing tones bordering on Progressive Death to close the EP.
While violence may indeed be what drives Serpent Corpse‘s origins, the band knows perfectly well how to darken the mood or draw on other influences to make Retaliate a formidable weapon! Their live shows look promising…
