First album for Disembodiment.
Already signed to Everlasting Spew for the release of their first EP, the band consisting of Carl (bass/vocals, ex-Nilblorts, ex-Stillborn, ex-They Were Us), Eric (drums, ex-Nilblorts, ex-Stillborn, ex-They Were Us), Chris (guitar/vocals, ex-Mortal Torment, ex-Serpent Corpse) and Math (vocals) – all also members of Oath Div. 666 – released Spiral Crypts in 2025.
We dive right into the heart of the matter with the nauseating sample of Morbid Infestation, a thick opening track that gradually gains momentum before crushing us with waves of acceleration and a catchy groove. The sound is massive at every moment, and the arrival of the vocals reinforces the track, giving it an aggressive and much more straightforward Old School vibe while affirming its roots, just like on Stygian Overture, which doesn’t take long to become uncontrollable, accelerating and slowing down as it pleases to hammer us according to the rules of the art. The carnage gives way to Spiral Crypts, the next track, whose regular, heavy patterns wreak havoc at varying speeds while maintaining a consistently abrasive sound, and the same goes for Putrification’s jerky riffs, which adopts a similar approach. The choirs make the track terrifying, offering a real glimpse of hell à la Death Metal before moving on to the distressing sample of Larval, which precedes a mountain of heaviness and dissonance that progresses at a fairly measured pace. The screams emerge from this creeping block of pus, which acts more or less in the same way on Infected To Rot, with its simple but terribly effective riffing that won’t take long to break our necks under its weight. The track passes fairly quickly, as does Unknown Origins, which lasts barely two minutes but condenses its violence and makes it explosive, propelling us onto Sentient Inorganic Mess, which closes the album with its own dose of musical filth, with an irregular pace and numerous palm mutes, but also some more unhealthy lead parts.
If you feel too light after a shower, don’t hesitate to trust Disembodiment to drag you through the mud and dirty your soul. Spiral Crypts is the perfect remedy for any form of auditory cleanliness.
