It looks like Public Grave are back!
Grotesque Mutations is the name of their second album, and makes Christoph Hamberger (vocals), Christian Dalisda (guitar), Philipp “Korny” Hauck (bass) and Benedikt Eichenseer (drums) proud.
Have you heard of Brutal Death? Slam Death? Well, you’re off to a good start with Public Graves. Describing the band as Brutal/Slam Death is simple, and I don’t think it would be necessary, because if you read me, you know I love that catchy groovy rage. And yet, we’re going to stick with this term, which describes a vital, raw, heavy and effective sound that makes you want to break your neck because that’s what it is!
There are hundreds of bands who apply this principle, but Public Grave do it in a rather simple, no-frills way that stains, offering dirty riffs that don’t hesitate to accelerate or propose almost danceable passages that will emulate the various vocal parts. A bit of Grind, a bit of Old School Death Metal, but the album remains short.
In twenty-seven minutes, Grotesque Mutation delivers a thick, aggressive sound that will make you want to headbang. Public Grave doesn’t plan to be the Slam/Death revival, but rather to fuel it!
