Have you ever let yourself drown into a band’s music, and only wake up at the end of the record ? I did it with Insomnium. Created in 1997 in Joensuu, Finland, by Niilo Sevänen (bass/vocals) and Ville Friman (guitar/choirs) to play Melodic Death Metal, they hire a while after the creation drummer Markus Hirvonen and guitar player Ville Vänni, that replaced another guitar player in 2001, and who will be later replaced by Markus Vanhala (who also play guitars for Omnium Gatherum and Malpractice) in 2011.

Vous êtes-vous déjà laissés embarquer par la musique d’un groupe en particulier, en vous réveillant seulement une fois l’album fini ? C’est mon cas pour Insomnium. Fondé en 1997 à Joensuu en Finlande par Niilo Sevänen (basse/chant) et Ville Friman (guitare/chœurs) afin de jouer du Death Mélodique, ils engagent quelques temps après le batteur Markus Hirvonen ainsi que le guitariste Ville Vänni, qui succèdera à un autre guitariste en 2001, et qui sera lui-même remplacé par Markus Vanhala (aussi présent dans Omnium Gatherum et Malpractice) en 2011.

In your opinion, Asian Metal only refers to Visual Kei ? It means some things : firstly, you didn’t follow Acta Infernalis since a while, and secondly, you miss an awesome world. Eluveitie and Ensiferum are considered as the best Death/Folk bands, but Ego Fall is the chinese one ! Created in 2000 in Inner Mongolia, they only release their first record in 2008. Two albums will follow in 2010 and 2013, an EP and a split with Tengger Cavalery and Nine Treasures as well, two other raising Mongolian bands. We will focus now on Inner M, the second album.

Si pour vous le Metal asiatique se résume au Visual Kei, ça signifie plusieurs choses : premièrement, vous n’avez pas suivi ma page depuis un moment, deuxièmement vous passez à côté d’une scène énorme. Si Eluveitie et Ensiferum sont considérés comme nos représentants européens en matière de Death/Folk, Ego Fall est celui de la Chine ! Formés en Mongolie-Intérieure en 2000, ils ne sortent leur premier album qu’en 2008. S’en suivront deux autres albums en 2010 et 2013 avant un EP et un split avec Tengger Cavalery et Nine Treasures, deux autres valeurs montantes de la scène Metal mongolienne. C’est sur Inner M, le deuxième album que nous allons nous pencher.

When you were young, each of you were at least once to the circus. The swedish drummer John Alfredsson obviously kept a deep memory of this moment, because he decided to create Avatar in 2001, with a circus inspired visual identity. He gathered Jonas Jarlsby (guitar/chorus), Henrik Sandelin (bass), Tim Öhrström (guitar) and the mad clown Johannes Michael Gustaf Eckerström (voice), and the band released their sixth album last year, but they really asserted their own style with the fourth record.

Quand vous étiez petits, vous êtes probablement tous allés au moins une fois au cirque. Le batteur suédois John Alfredsson en a visiblement gardé un profond souvenir puisqu’il a décidé en 2001 de fonder Avatar, dont le visuel s’inspire des arts du cirque. Aujourd’hui accompagné de Jonas Jarlsby (guitare/chœurs), Henrik Sandelin (basse), Tim Öhrström (guitare) et du clown Johannes Michael Gustaf Eckerström (chant), le groupe a sorti son sixième album en 2016, mais leur style ne s’est réellement affirmé qu’avec le quatrième.

If you’re into Warhammer’s universe, you probably ever hear about the demon Be’lakor. It’s this character that inspired the australians for their Melodic Death Metal band. Be’lakor is a journey that started in 2004 when John Richardson (bass), Shaun Sykes (guitar), George Kosmas (guitare/voice), Steve Merry (keyboard) et Jimmy Vanden Broek (drums) decided to play together. If Jimmy left the band in 2015, he was replaced by Elliott Sansom (Future Corpse, The Seaford Monster) and the band’s motivation is still untouched.

Italy is definitively full of treasures… Black Therapy, created in 2009, is an awesome Melodic Death Metal band. If Luca Soldati (drums), Lorenzo « Kallo » Carlini, Daniele Rizzo (guitars) and Giuseppe Massimiliano Di Giorgio (vocals, also live singer for Beyond The Dark and ex-Eyeconoclast) are in the band from the beginning, their bass player Alessandro Finocchiaro plays with them since only 2014.

Si Luca Soldati (batterie), Lorenzo « Kallo » Carlini, Daniele Rizzo (guitares) et Giuseppe Massimiliano Di Giorgio (chant, également chanteur live de Beyond The Dark et ancien Eyeconoclast) sont dans le groupe depuis sa création, le bassiste Alessandro Finocchiaro n’est arrivé qu’en 2014.
