It’s impossible to “know” Melodic Death Metal and not Dark Tranquillity. No, really : created in 1989 in Göteborg under the name of Sceptic Broiler, they changed their name for Dark Tranquillity in 1991 after two demo, released an album and literally switch their singer with In Flames, another Melodic Death Metal pioneer. Mikael Stanne (who was previously Dark Tranquillity’s guitar player and In Flames’ vocalist at the moment) takes the microphone instead of Anders Fridén. Today, with eleven studio albums, the band’s fame isn’t to prove, but we will come back on 2007’s record, Fiction.

Il est impossible de connaître le Death Mélodique sans connaître Dark Tranquillity. Non, vraiment : créé en 1989 sous le nom de Sceptic Broiler à Göteborg, ils changent de nom après deux démos, enregistrent un album, et échangent littéralement leur chanteur avec celui d’In Flames, autre pionnier du genre. C’est Mikael Stanne, qui était alors guitariste de Dark Tranquillity et chanteur d’In Flames à ce moment, qui prend le micro à la place d’Anders Fridén. Aujourd’hui forts de onze albums studio, la réputation du groupe n’est plus à prouver, mais nous allons revenir en 2007, sur l’album Fiction.

Supergroup created in 2009 at Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival’s backstage, they really exist as a band since 2011, thanks to Adam Dutkiewicz (guitar, bass and backing vocals) from Killswitch Engage, Georges “Corpsegrinder” Fischer (vocals) from Cannibal Corpse/Paths of Possession and Shannon Lucas (drums), ex-The Black Dahlia Murder’s drummer.

Since 1991, Canadian Death Metal reference’s name is Kataklysm. Their style evolved to Melodic Death Metal  but they’re still powerful as hell. Maurizio Iacono (bass player from 1991 to 1998 then singer) and Jean-François Dagenais (guitar since 1991) hired Stéhpane Barbe as bass player in 1998 and Max Duhamel on drums (from 1993 to 1995, 1998 to 2003, and 2005 to 2013), who finally let Olivier Beaudoin play full time with Kataklysm since 2014.

Depuis 1991, la référence du Death Metal canadien s’appelle Kataklysm. Leur style a évolué vers du Death Mélodique, mais la puissance reste la même. Hypocrisy‘s founder, Pain‘s founder, he also participate (as musician, mixing or producer) to numerous albums, from Power to Black Metal (Sabaton, Bloodbath, Dark Funeral, Lindemann, Lock Up, Malevolent Creation, Marduk, Celtic Frost, Destruction, Enthroned, Amon Amarth, Immortal, Septicflesh,  Kataklysm, Therion…). He lived in Sweden, move to the USA then move back to Sweden, he is the owner of The Abyss Studio. Peter is a free Metal legend.

Ayant vécu en Suède et aux Etats Unis, Peter Tägtgren possède un studio (The Abyss) qui lui permet d’être l’électron libre du Metal.
